Houston Texas Woodworking and Ruger Custom Guitars bring together more than 75 years of combined experience in woodworking, furniture making, guitar building, electronics, carving, and design. We don't believe in limiting a project to a single material or a standard catalog. Wood, metal, glass, electronics, reclaimed materials, and other elements can all become part of a piece when they help bring a client's idea to life.
Our work ranges from fine furniture and architectural pieces to sculptural woodworking, CNC-carved creations, custom guitars, and restoration of instruments that require skills beyond what a typical shop can provide. We particularly enjoy projects that are unusual, technically challenging, or simply haven't been done before.
Josh Brower has spent decades developing his woodworking skills, including formal woodworking apprenticeship and advanced study in woodcarving and sculpture. His work has received recognition in woodworking competitions and publications. His current work has been featured in Furniture & Cabinetmaking, available at Barnes & Noble nationwide.
Bob Ruger, of Ruger Custom Guitars, combines traditional guitar craftsmanship with woodworking and electronics to create instruments designed around each musician's sound and style. He particularly enjoys repairing and restoring rare, unusual, and difficult guitars that other shops have declined because the work is too challenging. Every instrument is approached as a collaboration between craftsman and musician.
We prefer custom commissions over mass production. Whether you're looking for an heirloom piece of furniture, an unusual sculpture, a one-of-a-kind guitar, a restoration, or an idea that doesn't fit neatly into any existing category, we'd rather build something that has never existed before.
