Trolley Stop Shelter Public Art Project
Digitally Printed Glass Installations

In collaboration with The Woodlands Township Parks & Recreation Department, we are transforming the glass panels on eight trolley stop shelters along The Woodlands Waterway® into vibrant, artist-designed public art installations. Each shelter features nine glass panels, creating a unique landmark that is both functional and visually inspiring.

What does an underwriter do?

  1. Commit to the investment to sponsor a new piece of Public Art.
  2. Review and select one of the proposed locations.
  3. Complete the questionnaire in relation to elements of design, location, and what you hope to be represented in the design.
  4. Complete agreement and sponsorship payment.
  5. Review three semi-final designs to select one for the final installation.

Why Partner with us?

  • High-Visibility Recognition: Prominent recognition at the sponsored shelter, providing daily visibility to residents and visitors for the next 10 years.
  • Community Impact: Help transform everyday trolley stops into inspiring public art while supporting one of the nation's largest public art collections.
  • Innovation & Sustainability: Be part of a first-of-its-kind project that transforms existing infrastructure into public art.
  • Marketing Reach: Receive recognition through project promotions, media coverage, social media, and community events.

Locations & Pricing

Underwriter levels are designed to provide maximum recognition and impact. Price depends on the chosen location, and funds cover design, printing, and installation of the glass panels, artist stipends, and project administration. Underwriters will choose a location upon availability

Eight Trolley Stop Shelter Locations

How the process works:

  1. Underwriters are secured for select locations.
  2. Call for Entry goes out to local, national, and international artists.
  3. Artists submit original preliminary designs of their interpretation for the Underwriters' vision.
  4. Public Art Committee juries the proposed designs and selects three semi-finalists for each location based on alignment with Underwriters' vision as well as feasibility of execution.
  5. The three semi-final designs are submitted to the Underwriters for final selection.
  6. Final Public Art design is created and delivered.
  7. Public Art is installed and unveiled in the fall of 2027.
