I always loved contradictions and challenges. When I was a young child and had my first experience with metalsmithing, the teacher asked us what would we like to design with the copper sheet and enamels she gave us and I immediately thought of the beautiful viney plant I saw earlier that day: green leaves, red stems, blue berries, how fascinating! It took me a while to sort out my path, but ever since then, a huge motivation for my art was how to preserve the tender floral shapes and the meandering vine and leaf elements in metal – a material that is most often very much the opposite of soft and fragile. I find great joy in the process of metalworking and using it as a medium to share my ideas inspired by flora and fauna found in nature.
