Rotating Exhibitions

The Woodlands Arts Council Gallery brings our community closer to the artists who live and create around us. Our rotating exhibitions showcase local and regional artists working across a wide range of media, from painting, photography and sculpture to glass, fiber, mixed media and more.

Throughout the year, the Gallery presents individual artists, collaborative exhibitions and community-focused collections, creating opportunities to discover new perspectives and connect with the creative talent in our region. Exhibitions are complemented by opening receptions and opportunities to hear directly from participating artists about their work and creative process.

Call for Artists: The Art of Belonging

A Juried Exhibition Celebrating Art, Connection & Creative Community

The Woodlands Arts Council invites adult members of The Woodlands Art League and the Conroe Art League to submit original work for The Art of Belonging, a juried exhibition celebrating the important role art leagues play in bringing artists together.

Submit your best work! Due to limited gallery space, an anonymous jury will select up to 30 works for this exhibition.

Exhibition Dates: October 20 – January 14
Opening Reception & Awards: November 12
Submission Deadline: September 30
Jury Fee: $20 per entry

Anonymous Jury Process

All artwork will be presented to juror René Wiley anonymously. The juror will not be able to see the artist's name, art league affiliation, contact information, website, or social media information. Artwork will be considered solely on its artistic merit.

About the Juror

René Wiley is an award-winning Texas oil painter known for her vibrant, impressionistic paintings of the Gulf Coast. A graduate of Sam Houston State University, Wiley began seriously pursuing her art career in the 1990s and studied under accomplished painters including Ray Vinella, John Asaro, Kim English, William Kalwick, and Kevin Macpherson.

Inspired by the unique light, architecture, wildlife, wetlands, and coastal landscapes of Galveston Island, Wiley is recognized for her bold use of color, geometric compositions, and expressive, thick brushwork. After Hurricane Ike in 2008 destroyed her studio, Wiley and her husband opened the René Wiley Studio & Gallery in downtown Galveston in 2009.

Today, the family-owned gallery represents Wiley's work alongside that of her daughters, Rachel Wiley-Janota and Samantha Wiley, and other Texas artists. Wiley's paintings are held in private collections and have been featured in exhibitions and publications throughout Texas.

Awards will be announced and presented at the opening reception on November 12.

First Prize — Recipient will receive a three-day Featured Artist Pop-Up Exhibition at The Woodlands Arts Council gallery, featuring a collection of the artist's work. The exhibition includes curatorial assistance from The Woodlands Arts Council, social media promotion, and the opportunity for the artist to personally invite and host collectors, friends, and guests during gallery open hours on any or all of the three exhibition days.
