Conroe High School 9th Grade Campus - 3D Printing Pens

Students used 3Doodler 3D printing pens to design and create custom glasses frames, exploring new materials and techniques with PLA sticks, stencils, and original designs. They then added embellishments, turning their work into wearable, imaginative sculptures that encouraged play, creativity, and self-expression.

For many students, this was their first exposure to 3D printing technology—tools that are typically out of reach in their everyday lives. The immediate excitement led to high engagement and sustained curiosity, with students asking to continue using the 3Doodler throughout the year. The experience helped build confidence as students experimented, problem-solved, and saw their ideas take physical form.

The project also fostered meaningful personal expression and emotional connection. One student created a superhero-like design for a younger sibling undergoing cancer treatment, describing it as a “disguise” to bring comfort and strength. Moments like this demonstrated how students used art to process emotions, show care for others, and find purpose in their creativity.

Overall, the project strengthened student engagement, confidence, and sense of agency, showing them that their ideas are valuable and their creativity can have real personal meaning.
