The Veterans Memorial Orchestra holds the exceptionally important community value of serving the disadvantaged student population. With this goal in mind, an initiative to provide their younger and smaller students with properly sized orchestral instruments has been put into action. Ensuring that each student has an instrument of the right size is vital to developing the correct technical skills early on. This way students are able to develop their musical skills free of the limitations that come with having to adjust to an instrument that is too big.
Using provided funding from the Dr. David Gottlieb Education Microgrant, The Veterans Memorial Orchestra will be able to purchase smaller sized instruments, up to ΒΌ the size of a normal instrument. These correctly sized instruments will allow their music school to continue striving to serve the underserved student population in our community.
