Some homes make you exhale the moment you walk in. That feeling is what María José Colin hopes to create through her art.

She is the artist and founder of Marea Paper Art, where hundreds of individually folded paper pieces come together to create one-of-a-kind artworks that transform with changing light. As the day moves, so do the shadows, making every piece feel quietly alive.

Although María José is a nutritionist by profession, she discovered a passion for paper art. During one of the most challenging times of her life, she turned to paper as a way to slow down and find peace. What began as a personal space soon became Marea Paper Art.

Today, every piece is made-to-order and handcrafted in her studio in The Woodlands, Texas. As her work continues to evolve, María José is also exploring hand-painted paper techniques that add new layers of texture, depth, and originality, ensuring every piece is truly one of a kind.
