It is often said that we look but we do not see. I have been on a path of experimentation to find compelling ways for people to experience in meaningful ways aspects of their daily lives they might have over looked. I have chosen flowers as my primary subject matter because, while recognized as beautiful, they are not often examined closely. There is so much more to experience than can be gleaned from a passing glance.Through light painting in a dark studio, I can bring out colors, textures and shapes impossible to see in natural light. The stark contrast between the vivid flowers and the black background almost requires people to take a close look at what they may have been missing.In this way I hope people who look at my work see things they have never seen before despite being very familiar with my subject matter.
