In partnership with Village Books, Books on the Green features readings by an impressive line-up of authors, representing a range of genres, including romance, history, poetry, mystery, adventure, and literary fiction. Featured books (as well as others) are available for purchase at Books on the Green and can be signed by the authors following their presentations.

Storytelling Competition Information

Are you a natural raconteur? Do your friends never stop you if you say “Stop me if you’ve heard this one before”? Do you never let the truth get in the way of a good story? Well, do we have a competition for you! Introducing Village Books First Annual Storytelling Competition! Storytellers compete monthly with each month’s winners going on to compete at The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival and then to the final competition in December 2024 to be the official Village Books Story Weaver! First competition is January 28 at 3 p.m. Only 10 people per age category can compete each month so sign up here: Here are the rules:

Two categories: 16+ and under 16

Time Limit: 5 minutes maximum (you do not have to use the full 5 minutes)

Stories: May be fiction or nonfiction (or a hybrid of the two)

Format: Must be memorized -- absolutely no reading!

Family friendly content only

Props may be used within reason (please no livestock)
