2025 Artist Jury

Date: Nov 09, 2024
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Category(s):
1 of 1

On November 9, 2024 a jury panel of five art professionals and collectors will convene at The Woodlands Arts Council to review digital images and score artists for selection into the festival. This process is open to the public between 10 AM and Noon.

The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival uses Zapplication, an online artist application and jury process. Images are grouped by media category for review by the jury panel. The review process is “blind” - the names of artists are not provided to the panel. However, the size, title and media or material utilized to create each work represented on slides will be available to the panel upon request.

A total of twelve (12) media categories are currently in use. The categories are Ceramics, 2D Mixed Media/Digital Art, 3D Mixed Media, Drawing/Pastels/Printmaking, Fiber, Glass, Jewelry, Painting, Photography, Sculpture/Metal Works, and Wood. The Emerging Artist category will be juried separately.

Each artist submits three images representative of the work that they wish to exhibit at the festival along with one image representative of their booth display. (The booth shot should not be factored into the score unless it looks very unprofessional.) Images are projected one artist at a time using high quality digital projection as well as viewed on each juror's computer monitor. The artist statement is read outloud to the jurors. Each application is given a numerical score from 1 - 7, with 4 not being used. Scores are tabulated and acceptance awarded to the highest scoring applicants within each category. Prior participation in The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival does not guarantee automatic selection to the festival.

While the jury panel will likely review all submitted images, The Woodlands Waterway Arts Council reserves the right to exclude from the jury panel’s consideration any work that does not meet minimal standards of quality as determined by the Festival Director.

The support team will make their best effort to inform the jury panel with any pertinent information on applicant artists and their work if necessary. As a rule, however, others present during the jurying process are expressly forbidden from offering opinions or other commentary to the panel.
