Working in metal clay, everything I make starts as a lump of clay with a powder of the metal I've chosen for the design. Textures are pressed in to the clay, sometimes layered for contrast, small details are rolled, sculpted or carved, sanded and perfected. Once the piece is exactly how I want it, it goes in to a jewelry kiln to be fired, burning out the organic clay and sintering the powder in to solid metal. Once the metal is solid, I use traditional metal smithing to add any elements needed to finish the piece, tumble, clean and polish and where needed, add patina and set the stones. My pieces are intended to celebrate life and connect loved ones through the art of jewelry.
