Kimberly Garza is an assistant professor of creative writing and literature at the University of Texas at San Antonio. A native Texan, Dr. Garza’s debut novel THE LAST KARANKAWAS is set in her birthplace, Galveston, Texas. Dr. Garza is the child of a Filipina immigrant mother and a Mexican-American father and used this perspective to create the characters and community in her novel. THE LAST KARANKAWAS was chosen as a New York Times Editors’ Choice, an Indie Next Pick and was rated one of Audible’s Best of 2022.
