Memories of 2020: the Year of the Corona Virus
No one is quite sure how it all started, but little gems have been popping up all over the trails in The Woodlands.
These gems are small stones that have been lovingly placed for all the people that walk the trails to observe. The artwork on the rocks varies from humor to a note of inspiration.
The artists of these rocks range from children to adults. However, the majority of this community art exhibition has been created by our Senior citizens. They have been hit the hardest the past couple of months from the global pandemic.
There is wisdom in the stones that they have painted. We commissioned this exhibit in remembrance of what the Seniors have endured and in memoriam to those that have passed away during this time. It will not only showcase some of the amazing talents that our Senior community has, but also communicate with other generations what this moment in time meant to them.
All our Senior Communities, including Assisted Living, Retirement Centers, Church groups, and craft circles, have been solicited to participate.
The theme is “Memories of 2020: the Year of the Corona Virus”. The rock painting will showcase what the Seniors missed during their lockdown.Examples include Spring flowers, bands in the park, graduations, birthdays, church, family gatherings, grandchildren, and outings with friends.
The rocks will be gathered and arranged into one central artistic work in the outline of the State of Texas. There will be a placard next to the exhibit that lists all the entries, including the community that they live in or the church that they attend. This collaborative piece of art will be displayed at the Festival on April 10th & 11th, 2021.
