Beginning with stoneware clay or porcelain, my work is formed using a variety of hand building techniques, combined with wheel thrown forms. There is a window of workability where the clay is soft enough to manipulate but has become firm enough to provide strength; for me, this is my ideal “constructing” opportunity.

The work is finished using contrasting glazes of opaque color set beside a textured crawl glaze which intend to reference minimalist landscapes. I formulate and mix all of my glazes by hand in my studio.
