Student Art Scholarship Showcase

Congratulations to Our Student Artists!

Each year, The Woodlands Arts Council (TWAC) promotes and supports artists of the future through its Student Art Scholarship Competition. Student artists who are active public, private and home-schooled juniors and seniors from the Montgomery County area submit their original works in painting, drawing, mixed media 2D, mixed media 3D, digital art and photography to the competition.

This year, 148 original works of art were submitted online, according to TWAC Cultural Outreach Coordinator Tricia Howard. The winners were featured at a special exhibition in Market Street in April and at the 2019 Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival April 13 and 14. “These young people are incredibly talented, creative and dedicated,” Howard said. “It is a pleasure to work with them and to see their work recognized and rewarded.”

First place winners were awarded $1,500 scholarships, second place garnered a $1,000 scholarship and third place winners were given $500 scholarships. There were also two Honorable Mention winners in each category.
